Hiking in fabulous natural scenery
The walking is long ago not only the Müller's desire.
... and our dreamy landscape provides enough variations and hiking routes - to get you even more excited. Discover many new impressions in our homeland - with the Landhotel Tirolerhof as the perfect starting point.
After a cozy and invigorating breakfast, open the doors and explore the imposing mountain panoramas, lush meadows and green forests in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps. The Wildschönau high valley is blessed with endless beauty and contrasts. So truly a hiking paradise.
300 kilometers of well-maintained hiking trails are waiting to be discovered by you. You will look in vain for rugged and extremely steep mountains, enjoy our gentle landscape on alpine hikes and forest paths. Or are you a summiteer and climb the "Großer Beil" (2,309 m), for example? You will find both relaxing and easy tours with us, but there are also plenty of more demanding hiking trails available. A hike at lofty heights along the mountain ridges will certainly leave a lasting impression - especially the magnificent view. This can be described as the greatest happiness and reward for ascension.
In the valley and in one of the most beautiful natural gorges in Tyrol, the Kundler Klamm, you will find the easier hikes. If you are looking for a bit more demanding tours, then explore the alpine pastures and mountains from 1500 meters. Wonderful views are the reward for the difficult hikes that lead to higher peaks at almost 2300 meters above sea level. The perfect starting point for these hikes to the rear mountains of the Wildschönau is the Schönanger Alm in Auffach. As you can see - there is something for every type of hiker!
If you want to go to lofty heights without spending a lot of time and effort, the gondolas in Niederau and Auffach offer you the perfect support. Discover our wild, beautiful mountains from the mountain stations. Also ideal for children. And the best part about it? The mountain railways are free with your included Wildschönau Card!
For those who prefer to hike in groups, our tourist office offers a wonderful guided walking program to the most beautiful destinations in the high valley. These hikes are free with your included Wildschönau Card.
For the physical well-being is ensured on the numerous pastures and mountain inns. Enjoy the peace and recharge your batteries with a typical Tyrolean snack.

Fancy a few hiking tips?
This is of course only a small selection. You can find more hiking tips and tour descriptions here or you find your own route on the interactive hiking map.
For the cozy ones:
Take a leisurely stroll along the promenade from Oberau to Niederau on the Franziskusweg. There are 9 statues on this path that were made by local artist Hubert Flörl. The path is also illuminated in the evening. These works are intended to remind us of the greatness and glory of creation.
Or you can explore our Kundl Gorge. You start in Mühltal and walk along meadows and forests to the gorge entrance. It offers impressive rock formations and perfect photo opportunities. Also suitable with a stroller.
Can it be a little more demanding?
We start a circular hiking trail around the Rosskopf. From the hotel over the Franziskusweg to Niederau. The Markbachjoch gondola takes you high up - free of charge with your Wildschönau Card. At the mountain station, turn right to the Brixentaler Holzalm, a charming alpine hut with food, and then on to the Horlerstiegl chapel. Then via the Adlerweg to Auffach. The route leads over the brook promenade to Oberau Roggenboden. From the Roggenboden you can take the forest edge path back to Oberau.
The Kragenjoch (1,425m) is also waiting to be discovered. It goes up to the Boarstadl, which offers a wonderful view of Oberau. We continue to the Achental Alm, known for the good typical Tyrolean snack. Strengthened, you climb over gently rising mountain meadows to the Kragenjoch. Return via the Bemberg farms to the Zwecklhof schnapps distillery and then via Loya back to the Hotel Tirolerhof.
For the mountain professionals among you:
Up to our highest mountain: the "Großer Beil" (2,309 m). It starts at the Schönangeralm via the Kundl-Alm past a beautiful waterfall to the Gressensteinalm. From there on and on upwards. At the summit, you will be rewarded with an extraordinary panoramic view. Refreshments are available on the Gressensteinalm and Tyrolean specialties are on offer at the Alpengasthaus Schönanger.
A demanding circular hike leads us to the Feldalphorn (1,920 m). With the Wildschönau Card you can take the Markbachjochbahn up to the blue sky for free. It continues in a southerly direction and then up to the ridge, which leads past charming moor lakes. At the Feldalm, continue to the left and sometimes very steeply over the ridge to the summit. Via the "Halsgatterl" it goes back to the Markbachjoch. At the Markbachjochalm you have definitely earned a reward.
The tourism association's videos give a few more impressions.
Another little tip for parents with children: while the little ones are having fun in the Dragon club, a short hike ensures that they can take time out together. Child care is free with the included Wildschönau Card.
